Experimental investigation of strain rate dependent damage mechanisms in DP1000 automotive steel

Present study aims to investigate the effect of stress state and loading rates on damage mechanisms in a DP1000 steel using welldesigned series experiments. A specimen family comprising central hole, in-plane shear plane strain samples is applied characterise under well-controlled states. The optimization geometries achieved finite element simulations. To assess influence rate, quasi-static, intermediate dynamic tests are performed designed samples. Local fields obtained by digital image correlation. After testing, scanning electron microscopy employed systematically analyse micromechanisms driving investigated material. underlying ferrite-martensite interphase debonding, martensite cracking debonding at ferrite-ferrite grain boundaries. Stress rate found have distinct influences triggering mechanisms.
